Photo Quick Tip

Nikon D90; AF-S Nikkor Lens 18-105mm f3.5-5.6

ISO 3200; f 5.6; 1/30 sec

I shot this pic of Manhattan at sunset last summer and was amazed by the vibrance of the sky and water. I did not enhance the color or use a filter of any kind. And I’ve never been quite sure why the colors came out so rich……..until NOW!

While reading Weddings, a photography book by Suzy Clement, I came upon this little tidbit of information.

BLUE HOUR: this is the time between full daylight and full darkness, or the period of twilight right after sunset.  This occurs when the sun has set passed the horizon, causing the light to have to travel a greater distance through the atmosphere. This scatters the blue light, creating this vibrant effect. The best time to start shooting is about 20 minutes after sunset.  If you rush it, and shoot too early, the sky and color will appear washed out.

THANKS SUZY!

Photo Armamentarium

So I realized today that I am guilty of the one thing that irks me when reading photography books. I wish it was common practice for photographers to leave a little footnote about what equipment was used to capture an image. It’s such useful information; especially for someone just starting out. So from here on out,  I’ll include information on all equipment used. (But quite frankly, there won’t be much to list. I’m a photographer with limited resources.)

My armamentarium include:

-Nikon D90

-Nikon Speedlight SB-600 Flash

-Nikkor AF 50mm f1.8 Lens

-Nikkor AF-S 18-105mm f3.5-5.6 Lens

****All photos posted previously were taken with this equipment****

Day in the Park

San Gabriel Park; Taken 3.16.12 This family was a joy to photograph. Always laughing, smiling, and not afraid to be silly. It made this overcast day a lot brighter.

Sólo tú y yo, amor mío

My first bridal shoot; Texas State Capitol 3.10.2012 Even in the torrential downpour, she remained poised and elegant. I felt incredibly honored to take these bridal portraits. As my cousin and childhood ghost hunting companion, this bride is quite dear to my heart. On March 24, 2012, we celebrate her marriage to the love of … Continue reading

Hola! Bonjour! Guten Tag!

Hello World!!! My name is Nadia Morales and I am a photographer. I am NOT a blogger. This is all quite new to me. So, to anyone following this, I apologize. Chances are high that some sort of blogging rule or etiquette will be broken :)

My purpose for this blog is to share ideas, inspirations, and chronicle my experiences as an amateur photographer with the aspirations of becoming professional. I guarantee I will make many mistakes. But I also promise that I’ll have fun in the process.  We are all just learning; constantly growing, adapting, improving ourselves.
